Protecting your personal data matters to us. This website was designed to operate with a minimum of data processing. We use no cookies, no tracking scripts and no analytics tools.

3. Hosting

This website is operated by a hosting provider. When you access the site, technical data (IP address, browser type, time of access) is automatically stored in server log files. This data is required for technical operation and is not merged with other data sources. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

4. No cookies

This website uses no cookies. We set neither first-party nor third-party cookies.

5. localStorage

For the interactive digitalization checks we store your quiz results in your browser’s localStorage. Without registration this data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to our servers and is not shared with third parties. You can delete it yourself at any time: browser settings → site data / storage → delete data for saltwavebooks.com, or enter localStorage.clear() in the browser console.

6. Registration & profile (optional)

You can optionally create a free profile to save your check results and use the industry benchmark and the digital toolkit. With your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) we process the following data: email address, optionally your name, business type, number of employees and your check results. Industry benchmarks are formed only in anonymized, aggregated form (average values). You can withdraw your consent at any time and request deletion of your profile – an email to is sufficient.

7. Anonymized study evaluation (optional)

Only with your separate, explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) do we evaluate your check answers as part of an industry study on digitalization in hospitality and publish the results. This consent is independent of registration and email tips – you can use the checks fully without it. For the study the data is pseudonymized: your name and email address are removed and replaced by a random identifier; only anonymized, aggregated results are published (e.g. average values by business type and size), from which no conclusions about individuals can be drawn. You can withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future – an informal message to is sufficient; results already published in anonymized form are unaffected, as they no longer relate to an identifiable person.

8. Email tips (optional)

Only if you actively opt in during registration will we occasionally send you practical tips on digitalization by email. You can unsubscribe at any time – via the link in every email or informally by contacting us.

9. No tracking scripts

We use no analytics or tracking tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Matomo or comparable services. There is no behavioral analysis and no profiling.

10. No sharing with third parties

We do not share personal data with third parties unless we are legally obliged to do so.

11. Google Fonts

This website uses Google Fonts for consistent typography. When you access the site, your browser loads the required fonts from the servers of Google LLC (USA). Your IP address is transmitted to Google in the process. For more information see the Google privacy policy. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in consistent presentation).
